PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has decided to conduct an auction for sopo tax collection for the open market and has fixed the initial upset price at Rs.75.36 lakh, including GST. Soon, the tender will be issued and the highest bidder will be awarded the contract, said PMC Chairperson Ritesh Naik on Wednesday.
This auction will be held on contractual basis for the year 2023-24 and sealed tenders will be adopted. The PMC did not hike any rates; the contractor will charge sop tax at Rs 12 per square mtr. Apart from vendors in the market, sopo will be collected from those sitting in the open space in front of the market and other places.
