PMC upset at being kept in dark over STPs

PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council has expressed displeasure at being kept in the dark by the government while proposing sewage treatment plants at Khadpabandh and other PMC areas.

PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council has expressed displeasure at being kept in the dark by the government while proposing sewage treatment plants at Khadpabandh and other PMC areas. The Sewerage and Infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa (SIDCGL) and PWD will execute the project.
The PMC held a demonstration at the municipal hall on Friday and raised several questions regarding the tender, the plant sites, land acquisition, and the roads that would be dug for laying sewerage pipeline. Chairperson Radhika Naik, Deputy Chairperson Shantaram Colvekar, Councillors Sunil Desai, Venkatesh Naik and Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar were amongst the protestors.
The PMC also recalled that people were opposing the plants in the absence of proper information about the same.
