CANACONA: Five of the nine Poinguinim panchayat members on Tuesday submitted an application to the Canacona Block Development Office staring that they have no-confidence in Sarpanch Ramdas Pujari.
The no-confidence notice is signed by Deputy Sarpanch Elda Fernandes, Sarita Pagi, Jagdish Tawadkar, Rudresh Namshikar and Provir Bhandari.
According to the no-confidence motion, Ramdas Pujari failed to take the ruling group into confidence and there was no development during his one year as sarpanch.
However, people close to the sarpanch said that there was a tacit understanding between Pujari and other members of the ruling group that he would occupy the post for one year but even after the elapse of that period he was not willing to step down on his own due to which the no-confidence has been filed against him. Pujari was not available for comments.
When contacted, Canacona BDO Bhagwant Karmali confirmed the receipt of the notice signed by five out of the nine member of Poinguinim panchayat and said that he would convene a special meeting wherein the motion would be put to vote.
