BICHOLIM: The truck owners from Poira and Shirgao on Monday blocked the mineral ore dump transportation demanding to use their trucks for the work.
According to the agitators, there are 120 trucks in Poira and Shirgao and the contractor used the trucks from “outside” for transportation of dump.
When the locals came to know about it they gathered on the road and blocked the transportation.
“We demand that they should employ our trucks rather than getting trucks from ‘outside’,” said Ramchandra Gaonkar.
The agitators said that till the time their issue is resolved they would not allow transportation through their village.
They also questioned as to why the mineral ore dump is being taken to some other jetty when they have jetty in their village.
