Mapusa: Mapusa Police arrested five persons for allegedly making an unlawful assembly, rioting and obstructing the government servants while performing their duties, at Verla-Canca, on Friday evening.
The panchayat in a letter to Mapusa Police had requested to take action and remove all the hawkers doing illegal business on Canca-Mapusa stretch since the hawkers were causing traffic congestion.
While taking action on the same, a team of police went to clear the encroachment during which the alleged accused persons namely Samir Korgaonkar, Rohan Korgaonkar, Retesh Korgaonkar, Arun Tupkar and Wilson Fernandes, obstructed the police from performing their duties.
