Police: Bullet that damaged Vasco house fired from machine gun

PANJIM: Goa Police investigating the bullet which pierced the roof and damaged the wall of a house at Vasco said it had been fired from a machine gun.

Speaking to the media, Inspector General of Goa Police V Renganathan said the Goa Police armourer identified the bullet as having come from a machine gun, which are not licensed to civilians. “These guns are only used by government security agencies and we are probing the matter,” Renganathan said.
He added that South Goa Police are inquiring with the agencies stationed at Mormugao as the house is surrounded by vital installations including MPT and the Naval base.
“Right now we cannot rule out any possibility as to from where the bullet was fired and how it entered through the roof of the house,” the IGP said.
