PERNEM: In an inter-State operation, Pernem Police with the help of Karnataka and Kerala counterparts busted a burglary racket and arrested two accused persons namely Lathif Khan (28), native of Mysore and K S Azeez (46), native of Kodagu, both Karnataka, involved in multiple theft cases.
According to police, the operation was conducted after continues cases of house breaking thefts were reported in the jurisdiction of Pernem Police Station mainly from the coastal belt villages including Ashwem, Morjim, Mandrem and Arambol, where unknown person/s used to target foreign and domestic tourists by committing theft of their valuable items such as laptops, iPads, cameras, mobile phones, cash etc.
During the course of investigation, the police received a technical input that the accused persons are from Kerala and Karnataka, as such inter-State operation was conducted with the help of Karnataka and Kerala counterparts. Further, it came on record that the accused after commission of crime, used to flee to their native States Karnataka and Kerala.
The police recovered the stolen properties all worth Rs 25 lakh approximately.
The accused persons are in police custody and will be interrogated thoroughly to find out their links with other undetected cases in State and to find out if there is any involvement of other associates in the crime.
