CANACONA: The staff of Canacona police station cleaned up the Bamonbudo waterfall of all thrash and garbage littered by the picnickers last year.
Canacona police under the leadership of PI Rajendra Prabhudesai took up the cudgel to clean up the seasonal waterfall called Bamonbudo at Tudal, Gaondongrem.
During an interaction with DIG Rupinder Kumar, IPS, on Wednesday at Canacona police station, the locals who are predominantly from schedule tribe community from here had brought to the notice the nuisance created by picnickers due to consumption of liquor and littering the serene spot with plastic and glass bottles together with other garbage. Locals had also alleged harassment to the local women by this groups who they said pass disgraceful comments under the influence of alcohol.
Following up on the assurance given by the senior officers over safety and making the area around the water fall a no alcohol zone, the Canacona police descended at Bamonbudo and cleared the place of all garbage and assured the locals of deputing police personnel during upcoming monsoon to avoid untoward incidents in future.
