VALPOI: Police have concluded the investigation into the suspected murder of Shanu Gaonkar without making a breakthrough.
During the course of investigation, police questioned 31 persons. It is suspected that Vishwajeet K Rane had shot Gaonkar. However, even after questioning 31 persons, the police couldn’t get a clue that Rane shot Gaonkar.
Officers familiar with the investigation say that the probe report is almost ready would likely be submitted to SP, before March 15.
The owner of ‘Step In’ bar and restaurant where Gaonkar was allegedly shot dead denied that the incident occurred in his bar.
“The allegation that Gaonkar was shot dead in ‘Step In’ by Vishwajeet K Rane is totally false. Rane’s ex-driver Satish Arthalkar is changing his statement every day,” said Prashant Desai, the owner of ‘Step In’.
“Someone is behind Arthalkar and forced him to make false allegations against Rane,” Desai said.
“My bar and restaurant is on state highway. If Gaonkar had been shot in my restaurant, then, everyone must have come to know about it,” he said.
“Nothing had happened in my restaurant. Rane and I are best friends and both are very active in politics. I am always with Rane in his politics journey. So, I think someone is trying to put us in trouble,” Desai said.
