VASCO: Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday said that CBI investigation of the Vasco minor rape case was deliberately botched up the Goa police and blamed the BJP government for not solving the same.
He demanded that State government should ensure that CBI does not close down the case until the culprit is nabbed and punished, besides the state government should also provide compensation to the victim on priority.
Speaking to Herald, Reginald said, “Firstly, it is very disappointing that the CBI has sought court permission to close down Vasco rape case for which JMFC would now pronounce its order on June 6, 2017. I am more shocked as the State government has remained silent on this issue and not sought any clarification from CBI as to why they are in a hurry to close down the case when the culprit is still at large. I expected that BJP government would be judicious enough to see that the accused involved is caught and punished.”
“As nothing has been done till date and as the CBI is wanting to close down the case, I have decided to raise this issue again in the forthcoming Assembly session aggressively. As a chief minister of Goa, I don’t expect that Manohar Parrikar should let the CBI to close down the case and he has to ensure that justice is done to the father of the child,” Reginald said.
Slamming government, he said, “I feel that it is the responsibility of the government to give justice to the father. It is BJP that actually failed miserably right from day one calling it as blind case and same statement is now made by CBI. I feel CBI seeking closure of case is part of government plan to destroy the case. The Congress, therefore, demand that CBI should not be allowed to close down the case until justice is given otherwise this would be negligence on the part of the government towards such heinous crime.”
He reminded how BJP once had called CBI as Congress Bureau of Investigation. “I still remember that when Congress was in power, Manohar Parrikar had said that CBI is Congress Bureau of Investigation; now I look at it differently, as I feel that full form of CBI is BJP Controlled Bureau of investigation.”
He said that if government puts pressure on CBI, then, they might not close down case.
Meanwhile, on request by the advocate representing the victim child seeking more time for filing his reply to the CBI plea, JMFC Vasco recently adjourned the case till June 6, 2017.
The victim’s father told Herald that he as well as his advocate Fr Michael Fernandes and other battery of lawyers and well wishers have noted down several loopholes in the case papers filed by CBI while investigating the case and all such points would be tabled before the court in form of reply so as to object any move by CBI to close down the case.
