The Santa Cruz panchayat initiated the work for the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in the village on Saturday. The people of St
Cruz had objected to the project in the village at the proposed site. authorities
deployed a police force at the site to maintain law and order. Locals state that
they are not against the project, but are against the proposed site, citing
health concerns of the residents.
They also state that they respect the
directives by the high court and will not interrupt the work until August 17.
However, after August 17 they will appeal to the HC to shift the project
elsewhere.
