PANJIM: Anjuna police have laid hands on clinching evidence against one Hanif Mohammad, who was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly drugging and raping a 20-year-old girl.
Anjuna PI Paresh Naik confirmed confiscating Mohammad’s mobile phone, which has a video showing him sexually exploiting the unconscious Raigad-based victim in the room of a guest house at Anjuna. The victim, known to him, had come to Goa along with her friend last weekend.
“After she fell unconscious, Hanif took her to the room on a false pretext. Since there was nobody else in the room he sexually exploited her and filmed the act on his mobile phone,” Naik told Herald.
The evidence has been attached as part of the investigation and Mohammad has confessed to the crime. Alleged drug peddler Nana Savlo who supplied him drugs was also taken into custody and booked under the NDPS Act.
The police have also recorded statements of witnesses who claimed they saw Mohammad taking the girl towards the room.
“Some witnesses have testified saying the accused told them that he was taking the victim to her room after she fell unconscious. They have witnessed the sequence,” he said.
The survivor is undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College with doctors yet to declare her fit for recording of statement. She is nonetheless out of danger. The victim’s mother – also a complainant in the case – testified before the police on Wednesday.
As per the complaint, the accused – after spiking her drink and raping her – took her to the Mapusa district hospital where the doctors confirmed the offence.
