PANJIM: Police has geared up for Panjim by-polls with three companies of paramilitary forces being deployed in the capital ahead of the elections scheduled on Sunday, May 19.
DIG Parmaditya informed Herald that security arrangements have been made and a review of the constituency’s security was also held.
“Senior officers have already reviewed the security at all the polling booths. Three additional companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed. Apart from the paramilitary forces there are IRB personnel deployed as well as local police personnel.”
He further informed that security has been enhanced with nakabandi at strategic points. “We have our flying squads and static teams deployed. Couple of areas have been identified as sensitive and the process of identifying individuals is on”, he added.
