Police instructed to ensure drug-free Sunburn Klassique

PANJIM: Ahead of three-day long Sunburn Klassique electronic dance music festival (EDM), Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar on Tuesday said that instructions have been issued to police to ensure drug-free music event.
Speaking to media persons, Ajgaonkar said that following directions from High Court, Sunburn organisers have paid their dues and accordingly, permission has been granted to host the event at Vagator from December 27 to December 29.
Responding to a question, Minister said that police are instructed to ensure that the event is completely drug-free. “We don’t want tourists who come to Goa for drugs…we also don’t want hotels that sell drugs,” he said.
He said that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has issued stern warning to police to curb narcotic trade in the State. “Our government is committed to have drug-free State and police are working in that direction,” Minister said.
After Minister Michael Lobo, Ajgaonkar too feels that events like Sunburn should be held twice a year. “Sunburn helps us to generate revenue,” he said.
