PANJIM, FEB 3
Goa Police is contemplating to issue Lookout Circular (LOC) against Israeli David Driham alias Dudu fearing that he might jump the bail.
Police spokesman Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Atmaram Deshpande said that jumping of bail is not under control of police as Dudu is already indicted and the case will shortly come up for trial.
“His requirement is more with the Court…We can initiate precautionary measures to ensure that he does not leave the country. The investigating officer may issue ‘Lookout Circular’ against him so that he does not cross the borders,” Deshpande told reporters hours after Dudu was granted bail by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court on Thursday.
Deshpande said that Dudu will have to remain present in the court as the indictment is already filed against him and trial will begin soon.
“His presence is also required for investigating the police-drug mafia nexus, in which suspended police sub inspector Sunil Gudlar was caught on spy-cam allegedly pushing drugs. In view of fresh revelation made by his sister Ayala and girlfriend Zarina by exposing Gudlar, his presence before the new investigation authority (Central Bureau of Investigation) will be required,” he said.
Dudu was granted bail on a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties in like amount. He is ordered not to interfere with the investigation, not to temper with evidence and not to leave the country.
Goa police were left red-faced when another Israeli drug dealer Yaniv Benaim alias Atala, had jumped the bail in 2010 and escaped to his country. He was however arrested by Interpol in Peru but the extradition process to bring him back to Goa is taking time.
