The two-year-old boy was left in a parking lot near Malbhat, Konkan Railway Station, while the three-year-old girl was abandoned in the vicinity of Gandhi Market; both children have been rescued and sent to Apna Ghar, Merces, following legal procedures

MARGAO: In a distressing incident, a two-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl were abandoned in separate locations in Margao by an unknown man and woman, believed to be a couple. The perpetrators, who arrived in Margao via Netravali Express, are currently on the run, prompting police to conduct searches across Margao to apprehend them.

The Margao Town Police have registered an offence against the couple for the common intention of wholly abandoning the minor children, under Sections 317 R/w 34 of IPC and Section 8 (1) of The Goa Children’s Act. The two-year-old boy was left in a parking lot near Malbhat, Konkan Railway Station, while the three-year-old girl was abandoned in the vicinity of Gandhi Market.

Both children have been rescued and sent to Merces Apna Ghar following legal procedures.

Unfortunately, the children, unable to provide any details about their parents, names, or native places, remain a mystery. The police admitted they are not sure if the children know each other, or are related.

The complaint, lodged by PSI Sameer Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station, describes the accused couple, providing details of their appearance and clothing. The couple, aged between 30 to 40 years, alighted from Netravati Express and abandoned the boy in the parking lot of the station before leaving the area. They later abandoned the girl in the vicinity of Damodar Pedda, Margao.

While police have descriptions of the couple, their current whereabouts are unknown, and efforts to locate them have been extended to other states through wireless messages. The woman was last seen wearing a pink top with a black jacket and a green woollen cap and the man, a maroon sweater with blue horizontal stripes. The investigation, led by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar, is actively pursuing leads.

The three-year-old girl was found wandering alone in Gandhi Market on Saturday. Despite efforts to locate her guardians, no one came forward to claim the child, leading to her placement in Merces Apna Ghar. No missing persons reports have come in over the past two days either, the police added.
