MARGAO: Adhoc District Judge-2 and Assistant Sessions Judge (FTC-II), Margao on Thursday ordered to file charges against one Mohammad Rashid alias Ashish Salmani of Cuncolim, booked by Cuncolim police for kidnapping of a minor girl and allegedly raping her, during their stay in Mumbai.
The Judge while ordering to frame charges against the accused observed that there is sufficient evidence on record to file charges under Sections 4, 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act, 2012. Consequently, the charges will be filed under Section 363 and 376 of IPC and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
According to the prosecution, on February 29, 2020, the accused person kidnapped the minor girl of the complainant mother from her lawful custody without her consent from the rented room at Sanvorcotta, Cuncolim, threatening he would upload their photographs on social media.
According to police, the accused person took her to Mumbai and stayed in a hotel for three days and then boarded a bus to return to Goa.
