VASCO: Vasco municipal Chief Officer confirmed to Herald that the police outpost in New Vaddem doesn’t have an occupancy certificate. The police outpost was set up on August 2, 2017.
Local resident Mahesh Bhandari, who had written to the Deputy Superintendent of Police to reopen the outpost, informed that the structure does not have an electric meter. “The power is being supplied from a neighbouring structure,” he said
“The MLA setup the outpost claiming that it would stop illegalities, sale of drugs to kids and sanitary affairs, but it turns out that he has made the police commit illegality by forcing them to occupy an illegal structure,” Bhandari claimed.
Bhandari questioned whether all the drug menace and illegalities have stopped in New Vaddem. “Why has the police outpost shut down? Who is paying the electricity bills? Is the police still paying the rent to the owner of the illegal structure?” Bhandari questioned. He said that he would file an application under RTI Act to find out the facts about the issue.
Vasco PI did not answer the calls by Herald.
