Panjim: As 225 police personnel are duty at the containment zone, Mongor Hill, in three shifts; the Goa Police has ensured its frontline soldiers are taking all the precautions. Mandatory wearing of masks, maintaining 2 mtr distance and use of sanitiser is become a routine for police who are posted at Mongor Hill since the govt declared it a containment zone.
Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas said they are providing face shields to the personnel on duty with 100 already disbursed.
“Our personnel are deployed to ensure no one moves out of the containment zone and nobody enters. Our frontline warriors are taking precautions such as wearing of masks, maintaining 2 mtr distances and using sanitizer and washing hands frequently. We have provided 100 face shields so far and remaining disbursement is being done,” he said.
The personnel are however not patrolling inside the containment zone even as a close watch is maintained to ensure no violation of the lockdown in the area.
Goa Police recorded its first COVID-19 case when its constable, attached to the Colva police station and resident of Mongor Hill tested positive. A home guard, posted on traffic duty at Vasco also tested positive for the infection. Both are undergoing treatment at COVID-19 hospital and their condition is stable, a source added.
As a safety measure, the entire Colva police station and the Vasco traffic cell were sanitised. The staff including 41 from Vasco Traffic Cell was tested for the virus, and all reports are negative.
