PANJIM: Acting on the complaint filed by Melcome D’Silva from Palmar Grande, Chinchinim, the Cuncolim Police Station has registered an FIR against 13 persons for criminally trespassing into the complainant’s property, armed with knives and koitas and destroying around 200 coconuts saplings.
As per the police’s FIR, the act of destroying the saplings that had been planted by the complainant has caused the complainant’s family a loss to the tune of approximately Rs 4 lakh. The FIR further mentioned that the accused persons along with other unidentified persons with their common object, formed an unlawful assembly armed with knives and koitas and forcefully damaged the wired fencing erected by the complainant to the boundary of the complainant’s property.
The police added that the accused persons also abused the complainant and his wife while they tried to intervene in the criminal act of the accused persons, and thereby committed offence.
The Cuncolim police have registered offences under Sections 133, 147, 148, 447, 427, 504 read with Section 149 of IPC. The police are carrying out further investigations in this case.
The complainants, who have produced photographic and video evidence of the events that unfolded on the day of the incident to the police, also pointed out that the accused persons and the other unidentified persons had dismantled and destroyed the cement poles fixed for the purpose of erecting the metallic mesh wire fencing.
