PANJIM: The Agassaim police on Friday seized seven grammes of suspected ganja worth Rs 500 from the boy’s hostel toilet of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim.
PSI Sujay Korgaonkar said that the investigation was carried out upon receiving a complaint from GMC hostel warden on Friday.
The ganja packet was found in the common toilet situated on the third floor of the hostel.
Though the police said that investigations are on to find out who brought the narcotics in the hostel, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane took to his twitter handle and said that five interns found with the narcotic substance in the hostel will be rusticated.
Rane said, “Five interns who were found with possession of drugs at GMC hostel campus will be rusticated, Directions have been given to Dean of @GoaGmc in this matter. I have also instructed him to issue a show cause notice to the warden and carry out a detailed investigation in this regard. Out-station police has already registered a case with Agacaim Police Station. Such lapses in the institution will not be tolerated.”
However, GMC Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar was not available for comment despite frantic effort.
PSI Sujay Korgaonkar is conducting further investigations under the supervision of Agassaim PI Tulshidas Naik.
