PANJIM: A woman, a victim of the cheating, bigamy and violation of conduct rules by a Police Sub Inspector (PSI), on Tuesday, accused the Goa Police of shielding him.
Speaking to reporters at Panjim, the woman from Vasco questioned how the PSI was reinstated and his service was confirmed when a probe against him was underway. She said that the inquiry conducted by SP Sucheta Desai had indicted the PSI of serious offences like cheating, bigamy and violation of conduct rules.
“It is heart-breaking and saddening that while we speak of women empowerment, we have to take the case to the police. We consider the police as protectors. They are supposed to be law caretakers. When someone faces a problem he or she knocks on the door of police to seek justice. But the impression appears to be changing,” she said in the presence of an activist.
According to the victim, the suspension of the PSI was revoked within 10 days even as the inquiry against him was on. Subsequently his services were regularised and was transferred to the Sanguem police station.
