MARGAO: The Fatorda Police on Friday shut operations of various retail stores at the SGPDA Market for social distancing and for not having permissions to operate.

The SGPDA retail market which has stalls of chicken, mutton, vegetables, fruits and fish had opened much later to the other markets after the relaxation of the lockdown.

This was done fearing a crowd of people. However, on Friday the Fatorda Police shut down several chicken, mutton, vegetables, fruits and fish vendors.

The police acted after these stores were allegedly found having no permissions to operate.

The crowd at the shops was not managed hence violating the social distancing norms. After closing these shops the police ensured that no more unauthorised trade is conducted.
