PANJIM: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the district police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) held flag march in the sensitive areas of Taleigao and St Cruz on Tuesday.
Camrabhat in Taleigao and Indranagar in Chimbel are amongst sensitive areas in the North where additional police force would be deployed during the polls.
The police and the paramilitary force will conduct the flag march across other vulnerable areas in the coming days to ensure peaceful elections.
The State police have requested the Central government for 10 platoons of CISF in view of Lok Sabha and by-elections in three constituencies. As of now, one platoon is deployed in the State.
“This flag march is a warning to the anti-social elements not to indulge in any unlawful activities during the elections,” said an officer.
North Goa police have identified around 10 vulnerable areas in its jurisdiction based on the previous elections, intelligence inputs and criminal activities.
