Police take guard outside Sancoale panchayat

CORTALIM: Sancoale panchayat has come under security net from Tuesday evening with armed policemen from Verna police station taking position outside the panchayat.

While Verna Police Inspector Uday Parad was not answering his cell phone and also could not be contacted at Verna police station, sources said that sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Goa Police are expected to raid the panchayat office on Thursday. There is a fear of files going missing before the raid, the source informed.
When contacted, Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Bossuet Silva said he was not aware since he was on leave.
Sancoale Sarpanch Saran Meti when contacted said he was not aware and that he had asked police cover for the gram sabha on Sunday.
The Sancoale panchayat has been in the news after charges of corruption against former sarpanch and panch Ramakant Borkar who is now absconding with a look out notice issued against him by the police.
Another Panch Shivanand Bingui has been arrested by the police.
