The Sessions Court on Wednesday heard arguments on Korgaonkar’s bail plea and has reserved orders on February 13.
Appearing for the state, Public prosecutor Sarojini Sardinha said that applicant Korgaonkar is required in police custody for thorough interrogation in order to find out the involvement of co-accused person, if any in the case. She argued that statements of witnesses in the case are yet to be recorded by the Vasco police investigating the case.
On the other hand, defence lawyer, Adv Rajiv Gomes submitted before the court that there’s no rationale behind the police action in arresting his client for murder. Adv Gomes argued that Korgaonkar was in no way connected with the murder and was not even aware of the murders inside the house.
In his bail plea, Korgaonkar said that he is being falsely implicated in the case just because he is a relative of Pratima, adding that the police are doing the ongoing investigation only on the instruction of a Politician.
