MARGAO: Even as one and a half month have passed for kidnapping of an eight-month old infant from the heart of Margao town, the Margao Police are yet to ascertain the whereabouts of alleged accused and the kidnapped infant.
Police said that the case is still under investigation.
The infant was kidnapped in the second week of November from the lawful guardianship of parents while they were sleeping outside the Malbhat Masjid, Margao.
According to police, the parents were sleeping on the footpath with the child outside the masjid when their infant was kidnapped from them. In the complaint, the mother of 8-month old infant had stated that on the intervening night of November 14 and 15, an unknown person kidnapped her infant and escaped from the Malbhat masjid, Margao,.
Margao police based on the complaint had registered an offence under Section 363 of IPC for kidnapping an infant and 8 of Goa Children Act.
Police had detained some people and also recorded the mother’s statement but so far no major clue has been collected and the kidnapped infant is yet to be traced.
