Police yet to trace third man accused of raping minor

PANJIM: Porvorim Police are yet to arrest one of the accused involved in raping the 16-year-old girl from Mapusa. Police said the accused is a native of Uttar Pradesh and was working with the father of the girl, but left the State two years ago.

PANJIM: Porvorim Police are yet to arrest one of the accused involved in raping the 16-year-old girl from Mapusa. Police said the accused is a native of Uttar Pradesh and was working with the father of the girl, but left the State two years ago.
Meanwhile, the girl has refused to stay with the family and prefers residing in the State run protective home during this traumatic time. Sources said the girl was residing with her parents but has now resisted staying with them.
Porvorim police said that after verifying the location of the man a team will be dispatched to UP. Police have tried to collect evidence regarding the second accused but have so far failed to establish a link in UP.
However, one of the accused arrested on Friday, who is a relative of girl, has been remanded to five days police custody. Whereas another accused who is also a relative of girl was arrested on Friday and remanded for seven days police custody.
All the accused have been booked under Sections 363, 342, 376 of IPC, Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and Sections 4, 8, 11 & 12 of POSCO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012).
The incident came to light after the girl complained that she had been raped on November 19 and during the course of recording the statement she revealed that she was also raped by two other men in 2014 and 2015, one of the men being a close relative.
In the other case of rape of a 4-year-old girl from Duler, Mapusa, police have sought seven days police custody of the accused.
