PANJIM: The North Goa Sessions Court Thursday acquitted suspended head constable Waman Naik from charges of sexually abusing a commercial sex worker in 2011. Principal District and Sessions Judge B P Deshpande pronounced the order acquitting Naik of the serious charge ‘on benefit of doubt.’
Naik, who has been in jail for more than two years, has been released on bail bond of Rs 10,000 with one surety of like amount besides other conditions. The order was pronounced in the presence of the suspended cop.
