Policy for regularisation of iron ore dumps a mega scam, alleges Dhavalikar

Challenges government that the iron ore dumps lying outside mining areas is more than 100 million tonnes, instead of 10 to 20 million tonnes as claimed by CM

PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday alleged that the policy for regularisation of iron ore dumps lying outside mining areas was a mega scam as there was more than 100 million tonnes dumps and not 10 to 20 million tonnes claimed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

“I challenge the government that the iron ore dumps lying outside mining areas is more than 100 million tonnes and not 10 to 20 million ton as claimed by Chief Minister. The iron ore dump policy approved by the cabinet is going to be a mega scam of BJP government,” Dhavalikar said demanding to know the status of the newly formed Goa Mining Development Corporation.

Dhavalikar said during the Congress regime Goa exported 62 million tonnes mining ore exceeding the capping of exporting 38 to 40 million tonnes annually.

The state government on Wednesday had approved a policy for regularisation of iron ore dumps which are lying outside mining areas and to grant permission to export it.

The Chief Minister had said that the dumps which can be exported were to the tune of around 10 to 20 million ton.
