Political hoardings, banners will be removed: CEO

PANJIM: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal on Saturday said that the Election Office will remove all hoardings and banners displayed of political parties following Election Commission announcing poll scheduled and model code of conduct coming into force.

Kunal also told reporters that COVID-19 positive patients, who are hospitalised or in home quarantine will be given postal ballot to cast their votes after obtaining doctors certificate. If anybody is found with constant high temperature at the polling booth, then he/she will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to cast vote.

Kunal said due to rationalisation, number of polling stations in the State have been increased to 1,722 and average voter at each polling station will be around 640. 

At the same time, persons can include their names in the electoral rolls till January 18. As per electoral roll data with respect to January 1, 2022 as the qualifying date, the number of electors in Goa are 11,56,762 voters including 298 service voters. Also the number of electors marked as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in Goa are 9643. The total overseas electors enrolled as on date are 77. 

Photo Electoral Rolls and Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) will be used during the elections. Goa has 100 per cent Photo Electoral Rolls and EPIC coverage.

The State Election office, Altinho published the Photo Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2022 as the qualifying date and has made it available at all designated location/polling stations of Assembly constituencies in the State.
