MARGAO: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Councillor Mahesh Amonkar, who along with others had sat on a hunger strike on Friday, stated that few political leaders are trying to portray themselves as heroes over the Kabrastan issue at the moment.
Without naming the politician he also said that he will again sit on hunger strike if Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant fails to fulfil the given assurance.
Amonkar also claimed that one of the members from Muslim community had approached him with an offer of Rs 3 crore not to keep quite on the Kabrastan issue.
“It was we who had raised the issue and demanded reverting back the decision of change in zone at Sonsodo area allotted for Kabrastan. We have fasted three long days at Margao demanding concrete assurance from the government, but now few politicians are trying to portray themselves as heroes,” said Amonkar.
As informed by the reliable sources many people, and members of Muslim community who are very close to the Amonkar are also upset with the current developments over the Kabrastan issue.
“Let them portray themselves as heroes but people know who has done what”, said Amonkar.
