PONDA: The State Assembly elections are fast approaching and the political parties are busy luring the voters especially women with some “fair deals” in the form of monthly doles with some even increasing the same from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000.
However, the excitement among the women with regards to the attractive doles has left the male voters to wonder as to what lies in store for them as they complain of being often neglected by the political parties during each election.
Male voters said the government has been unfair to them when compared to their female counterparts who have availed the benefits of Laadli Laxmi and others. Viraj Sapre from Ponda said, “If political parties come out with schemes then these should equally benefit both men and women. If they come out with any scheme for women they should also think of the several unemployed youth by providing them a monthly dole of Rs 5,000 till they get jobs.”
Another local Vishal Fadte said, “Political parties may forget the male voters as they feel the women are united through self help groups and target this vote bank. This may be the reason the political parties are not planning any schemes for men.”
According to Vishal, male voters who are unemployed should get the same benefit as this will prevent them from committing suicide.
