PANJIM: Political parties in the State are gearing up for the Lok Sabha elections even as the Election Commission is expected to announce the election dates as soon as Wednesday or latest by February 28.
The State Election Commission has already started meetings to prepare its officials for election duty and parties are in the midst of finalising their candidates.
The NCP, in its executive meeting Tuesday decided that in case there was no alliance with the Congress Party, it is ready to fight both the Lok Sabha seats on its own. The Executive Committee unanimously proposed the names of Nilkant Halarnkar and Salim Sayad for North Goa Parliament Seat and Jose Philip D’Souza and Yuri Alemao for South Goa Parliament Seat.
The Congress too is due to release its list by March 15th, a disclosure made Tuesday by the leader of opposition.
Aam Admi Party too said that it was in the process of getting its manifesto ready and wanted suggestions from people. It also said that applications for candidates were being received and they would be scrutinised by the central committee before being sent to the state scrutiny committee.
