PANJIM: The two day stir of taxi operators impacted international tourists visiting Goa with Russian passengers who have booked charter flights to the state canceling their tickets for Wednesday.
The United Kingdom on the other hand has issued a India travel advisory over the taxi stir in Goa. The United Kingdom has not barred its nationals from visiting Goa but has cautioned them on the prevailing conditions on account of the taximen’s stir.
It has strictly advised its nationals to avoid areas where there have been reported protests.
“There is an ongoing strike by taxi drivers in Goa. The strike is affecting travel in and around Goa including on the road to the airport and around major hotels,” reads the note.
It further advises its nationals to avoid areas where protests are reported to be taking place and to adhere to instructions issued by the local authorities.
The note from UK also advises its nationals to allow more time than usual to travel to the airport.
The travel and tour agencies in Goa have also expressed concern over cancellations from Russia.
One leading travel and tour operator told Herald that during the last 24 hours his agency has recorded close to 40 cancellations of Russian tourists who were scheduled to land in Goa on Wednesday.
Pegas, a leading tour operating agency in Russia has also hinted at cancellations and cut in charter arrivals if the situation does not improve soon.
