CANACONA: Few tourist taxis after making early morning trips to the airport and beyond suspended its operations, after they learned about the continuation of the one-day strike called by taxi operators all over the State.
Taxis carrying tourists were seen arriving at the taluka’s tourist destinations from other parts of the State. Later, auto rickshaws were noticed ferrying passengers.
Incidentally, most foreign tourists except for one hiring two wheeler kept shuffling from beach coasts, and others preferred to spend the day on the beaches to avoid troublesome travelling.
Rickshaws and taxis from KTC bus stand and KRC station, Chaudi, operated normally and no travellers were seen stranded except for few tourists at bus stops to take up public transportation.
According to sources, in the afternoon, many tourist cab drivers from Agonda beach and elsewhere drove to Salcette to attend a meeting called by the taxi owners/drivers.
