MAPUSA: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the forthcoming Goa Assembly elections will be held on time, tentatively in February next year.
After visiting the COVID-19 vaccination centre at Mapusa for people in the age group of 18-44 years, Sawant said, “Next Goa Assembly elections will be held as per schedule in the month of February 2022.” He had been questioned by the media whether the elections would be held early.
With the Assembly elections barely eight months away the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has kick-started its preparations with BJP national general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh and party in-charge for Goa C T Ravi visiting Goa last week. Though their visit was stated to be a part of organisational matters, there were enough indications that the national leaders discussed the party’s
preparedness for the next Assembly elections.
