PANJIM: The Lok Sabha and by-elections in three assembly constituencies on April 23, will have no impact on the declaration of HSSC results, which are likely to be in the last week of April.
The HSSC examination, conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE),  begun on February 28, with paper correction process simultaneously taking place.
With large number of teachers, involved in supervision of exams and paper correction, being also deployed on election duty, there were apprehensions that the declaration of the results would be delayed.
Speaking to Herald, GBSHSE Chairman Ramakrishna Samant ruled out possibility of any delay in declaration of HSSC results. “The paper correction process is (proceeding) simultaneously and almost 25 per cent work is complete,” he said.
“We normally announce HSSC results in the last week of April. The trend will continue even this year,” Samant said but refused give any date for declaring the results.
“I cannot say the date for now as only 25 per cent of paper correction process is done. But it should be in the last week of April,” he reiterated.
Last year, the HSSC results were announced on April 28 while SSC were on May 25. The SSC examinations will commence from April 2.
Further, when asked about teachers being overloaded with examination and election duty, Samant clarified that the Board ensures that teachers are not overburdened.
“Those teachers, who have to attend training or other works related to election, are relieved from examination duty on that day. We ensure, that teachers don’t have to perform double duty on the same day,” he said.
The teachers are upset as election duty has come at peak final examination season for them. They feel overloaded with the dual duties.
