MAPUSA: In a concerning development, the verdant surroundings of Anjuna were facing an environmental hazard as hotels located at St Sebastian Vaddo in ward no 6 were discharging sewage into the fields.
In the crackdown on these hotels, the Goa State Pollution Control Board sealed the hotels in a swift action. The decisive action was taken since this irresponsible action of the hotels poses a significant threat to the local ecosystem.
The sealing of hotels serves as a stark reminder that some hotels and tourism establishments have not adopted responsible tourism practices so that our natural landscapes can be preserved. Goa, which is renowned for its pristine beaches and lush green surroundings, relies heavily on tourism, making the sustainable management of environmental resources crucial to the survival of tourism.
The Pollution Control Board’s intervention underscores the commitment to maintaining ecological balance and protecting Goa’s natural beauty.
It is also an encouragement to activists who are fighting relentlessly to preserve the environment.
