MARGAO: The traditional Fama of Infant Jesus was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva on Monday.
Fr Joseph D’Silva, parish priest of Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva was the main celebrant for the concelebrated high mass held at 5.30 am.
In his homily, he called upon the faithful to inculcate the teachings and commandments of Jesus and to forgive others.
After the Mass, the miraculous statue of Infant Jesus was brought down from the special altar by the assistant parish priest in the presence of confraria members and large number of devotees.
The statue was taken in a procession followed by the blessing of the banner.
Hundreds of devotees queued up to kiss the sacred image of Infant Jesus.
