Ponda Carnival amidst festive mood

PONDA: Hundreds of revellers thronged Ponda to witness the Carnival floats parade, with the town wearing a festive look on Sunday evening.

PONDA: Hundreds of revellers thronged Ponda to witness the Carnival floats parade, with the town wearing a festive look on Sunday evening.
Industries Minister Mahadev Naik flagged off the float parade along with the Ponda Carnival committee president and Councillors Irvin Soares, Venkatesh Naik, Vice Chairperson Shantaram Colvekar, Vishwanath Dalvi and Geetali Talavlikar.
About 20 floats participated in the parade that commenced from Upper Bazzar Ponda and culminated at Aguiar Ground at Ponda. Many floats depicting traditional activities, culture and environment participated. 
The colourful Carnival floats depicted the speciality of Goans with rich culture, tradition, agricultural occupations, besides coconut pluckers, fruits, etc. Floats also had messages on the effects of consuming drugs, besides depicting themes such as girl child issues, Goan fruits, podher (baker), bull fights, etc.
The streets wore a decorated and festive look as floats participated in the Carnival parade with live bands and the participants dancing to the music.
