PONDA: Maharashtra Gomantak Party (MGP)-backed Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) Chairperson Geetali Talavalikar and vice-chairperson Jaya Sawant were voted out by 9-0 votes by show of hands. The no confidence motion against them was brought by eight councilors last week and came up for discussion on Friday. Talavalikar had taken charge on January 11 this year. The development is considered a blow to MGP Ponda.
There are rumours doing rounds in Ponda that Ritesh Naik, son Ravi Naik, may take up the post PMC chief after the present council was voted out.
Meanwhile for the past two years there were lots of effort to make Ritesh the PMC chairperson, but he was never elected despite contesting for the post.
