Ponda City master plan gets approval by Municipal authority

Next step is to clear abandoned vehicles across the town

Ponda City masterplan was approved in the council meeting on Thursday. The
member of council have unanimously approved the city master plan which they say
is for the development of the City. Ponda Municipality will also initiate
action against abandoned vehicles in city area. Chairperson Ritesh

The meeting was held for the budget session of Municipality. Chairperson Ritesh Naik said as per this plan in the first phase PMC is planning to have a garden and a food court. He further said that PMC has decided to take action against abandoned vehicles that are an eyesore and inconvenience in the town areas.

Chairperson Ritesh Naik speaking to media, informed that before taking legal action PMC will issue public notices to owners of abandoned vehicles. If they are not responding or not taking away their vehicles then these abandoned vehicles would be seized and auctioned. 

He said PMC has already identified around 22 abandoned vehicles and there may be more. PMC is planning to alien pay parking system and before pay parking notification is issued the abandoned vehicles occupying prime spaces need to be cleared. He said abandoned vehicles will be seized and will be kept in PMC land near Municipal Garden till the vehicles are disposed-off in legal manner. As far as vehicles abandoned near Ponda Police Station it will be discussed with traffic and Ponda Police before taking any action, as some of these vehicles are involved in accidents and court cases are pending. He said Parking base will be created with hot mix carpeting in area of demolished space of Shastri Hall building. He also said there is shortage of drivers with PMC. The drivers were in service with various department at time of Election will write to various department to relieve them so as to join back to PMC.
