Ponda civic body tows away abandoned cars, eases traffic flow

PONDA:  Locals here heaved a sigh of relief as abandoned vehicles occupying prime spaces in the town were towed away by Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) and traffic police in order to facilitate the traffic flow and free up some parking space. 

The Municipal Inspector stated that the civic body had identified around 22 abandoned cars in the town area which were later towed away to the scrapyard. “The PMC will conduct further searches to find out more as it would ease the movement of traffic in the town,” said the official. 

Anil Korde, a local hailed this as the best initiative by the PMC and Traffic police as public visiting the headquarters here for official work were facing parking problems as the abandoned vehicles were eating prime into the parking spaces.

The Municipal Inspector said the vehicles were towed away and stationed at the open space of the PMC near garden. Some bike owners have lifted their vehicles after notices were issued to them, the officer said.
