PONDA: The Ponda Carnival Committee on Sunday chalked out various programmes for the upcoming Carnival festival.
The meeting, which was chaired by Councillor Irvin Soares in municipal hall, was attended by Vice Chairperson Shantaram Colvekar, Chief Officer Navnath Naik, Councillor Venktesh Naik and other members. As per the schedule, the grand inaugural function will be held on February 10 at the hands of Ponda MLA Ravi Naik followed by Tiatr “Aadhaar Card” by Comedian Luis Bachan.
On February 11, the Carnival King Momo’s float parade will commence from Hotel Menino from 3.30 pm and culminate at Aguiar Ground. Prizes worth Rs 7.3 lakh will be awarded to the winners followed by live concert by Dr Antonio Soares and performances by Russian Dancers at 7 pm.
On February 12, at 7 pm, a mimicry show by Manohar Bhingi will be held followed by performance by African dancers.
On February 13, at 7 pm, the prize distribution function will be held followed by tiatr “Hanv Anik Tum” by Comedian Ambe. The prizes in the floats in traditional category include Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 45,000, and Rs 30,000. Besides five consolation prizes of Rs 10,000 each will be awarded.
In the club and institutions category the prizes will be Rs 60,000, Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 12,000. Besides five consolation prizes of Rs 5000 each will be given. In the fun junk category the prizes include Rs 20,000, Rs 18,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 8000, Rs 5,000, and five consolation prizes of Rs 1,500 each will be presented.
In the family category the prizes will be Rs 20,000, Rs 18,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 8,000, Rs 5,000 and five consolation prizes of Rs 1,500 each will be given.
In the clown and joker category the first five prizes are Rs 12,000, Rs 9,000, Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000. Besides five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each will be awarded.
