PONDA: The Ponda police made a breakthrough in a bike theft case, leading to the arrest of a 19-year-old accused, Aniket Pereira.
The theft of a Honda Activa scooter was reported by Ramchandra Naik, 50, from Gaunem-Bandora, Ponda. The theft occurred late at night on June 28, when the scooter was parked near a bus stop.
Following an intensive investigation, the police team apprehended the accused and recovered the stolen bike.
Further, during his custodial interrogation, the accused confessed to involvement in two more bike theft cases.
Based on his information, the police were able to recover a motorcycle and a scooter, which were also stolen.
The accused was presented before the JMFC Ponda, who remanded him to three days of police custody.
