PONDA: Ponda locals have expressed fears of a blast or a fire due to the broken slab of a storeroom which houses oxygen cylinders at Ponda Sub-District Hospital.
They have demanded immediate repair of the slab.
Social worker Viraj Sapre from Ponda said the open slab of the fire valve chamber poses a threat to the lives of patients and employees. This highly sensitive gas storeroom needs proper safety and handling. Therefore, the authorities should immediately repair the slab to avoid any disaster.
Sapre stated that the broken slab has not been repaired for 10 days. He said there are at least 100 oxygen cylinders stored in the storeroom and timely action should be taken. He urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to immediately look into the matter.
