PONDA: The new KTC Bus Stand at Ponda will be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore and the contractor said the work will be completed in three months.
Power Minister and local MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has told media that two months after closing of KTC Bus Stand shed for passengers the Transport Department had decided to repair and renovate the KTC Bus Stand shed by costing around Rs 1 crore.
The PWD officials on Wednesday inspected the shed and said the work order has been issued to contractor and the work on renovation would start soon and complete in three months time.
It may be recalled that the KTC Bus Stand shed has been closed for passengers three months ago after there was structural report that the KTC passengers shed is posing risk to commuters.
The commuters were standing in the open while waiting for buses.
“This is interstate bus stand and the temporary shed was to provide shelter to passengers specially in the rain, but because of the dilapidated state people would not use it because of the risk of the structure coming down,” said the officials.
