Ponda local held for assault on BJP activist

Ponda Police on Monday arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with the assault on Bharatiya Janata Party State Secretary Adv Manohar Adpaikar.
According to Ponda Police, accused Eknath Naik, who has been remanded to six days police custody, had an enmity with Adv Adpaikar.
Police further informed that Naik, who was arrested on Monday, confessed to the crime on Tuesday.
Ponda Police said Naik is the mastermind behind the attack and they are on the lookout for the accused, who physically attacked Adv Adpaikar. PSI Sanjay Dalvi is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that BJP State Secretary Adv Adpaikar was attacked by an unknown person at his office at Tisk-Ponda on January 6. Adpaikar was first admitted to ID Hospital in Ponda, from where he was shifted to GMC Hospital in Bambolim.
