Following a report published by
Herald on Tuesday titled ‘Due to fishing in inundated field, work on long awaited Kundaim Chickhalpaine bandhara halted’, the Ponda Mamlatdar along with team of officials inspected the site and directed release of water.
Work on the construction of the Kundaim-Chickhalpaine bandhara was halted on Monday, as the adjoining fields are intentionally inundated with saline water, making it difficult for the movement of trucks carrying mud for the bandhara.
This sent the farmers of the village into a panic, and they gathered at the site demanding that the Ponda Mamlatdar conduct an immediate inspection and initiate action.
The Mamlatdar inspected Chickhalpaine bandhara at Kundaim and directed the persons involved in storing saline water to release it immediately. Following this, the contractor resumed the work.
Chikhalpaine Farmers Association president,Vijesh Naik thanked Herald for highlighting their issue. He said because of breached bandhara, they could not cultivate field for past five years and now government has taken up bandhara work.
